Professional logger Brandt Ainsworth discusses safety gear,
proper felling techniques, logging horse harness, log carts in a variety
of styles, ground skidding, scaling, and decking saw logs. Brandt has been
working with his father in the woods since he was big enough to walk
behind a team of horses. By the age of 16 he had his own firewood
business, and in 1996 at the age of 20 he struck out on his own as Brandt
Ainsworth Logging. A full-time logger, he handles long-term hardwood
management for several private woodlot owners. He practices worst-first
selective harvesting using teams he raised and trained himself and
featured in this video - a pair of Percheron draft horses and a yoke of
Holstein-Limousin oxen.

	Well done! This video thoroughly covers the nuts and bolts of logging with horses and oxen. Brandt knows his business and is clear and concise in explaining the subject matter. Brandt is in the company of good horsemen with good horses. The horse teams are well harnessed and equipped. The oxen are well yoked. It is quite apparent that the filming was done during adverse weather conditions, however the visual and audio quality is very good. Good job Rural Heritage, Brandt and crew. PS.
